"From being seen as a soft issue, Diversity & Ethics has assumed centre stage today – diversity has seen greater media attention, thought and action than ethics. The business case for diversity is more evident and is fi nding many takers. However, companies should introspect their resolve for need for higher diversity – be it gender, differently talented people or hiring people of different origins and not follow the bandwagon. More of anything dilutes the fundamental concept. For example, greater coverage on any one form of diversity, e.g., gender may dilute the entire concept and case for diversity.

Diversity could be a good starting point for embedding higher degree of business ethics. Ethics by itself is driven by values – personal and collective. Diversity, as long as it enriches the value base of the organisation, will lead to more transparent conduct of individuals and teams."
